There are so many live music events, art exhibits, and late-night parties to choose from during Art Basel Week. We’ve hand-picked five of the most interesting, and perhaps quirky, happenings around Miami this weekend. Enjoy!
1. Drinks and Live Music Inside an Art Installation:
Cuban surrealist duo Los Carpinteros created a giant art bar installation titled “Güiro,” inspired, fittingly, by a güiro, the Cuban percussion instrument. Enjoy Absolut cocktails, live music and performances throughout the week from December 5 to 8, 5 PM to 2 AM on the Miami Beach Oceanfront, between 21 and 22 street.
2. Take a Weird Miami Bus Tour if You Dare:
Offered by Bas Fisher Invitational, this Saturday December 8, local collective Spring Break will guide a small bus around off-the-radar, unusual hot spots and cultural projects in Hialeah. There will be two tours: 10:45 AM to 2 PM and 2:45 to 6 PM. Pick up and drop off location will be at the NADA Pool Party at Deauville Beach Resort.
3. In the Mood to Dance?
Head over to LIV Nightclub to listen to DJ Tiesto on Saturday, December 8 from 11 PM to 5 AM. Fontainebleau Miami Beach 4441 Collins Avenue Miami Beach, FL 33140 LIVNIGHTCLUB.com
4. Check Out Local Talent:
This year, Miami gallery Spinello Projects presents artist Augustina Woodgat’s thoughtful project “New Landscapes” at the Art Positions sector of Art Basel Miami Beach. 1901 Convention Center Dr, Miami Beach, FL.
5. Fountain Art Fair 2012
Ready for Fountain Art Fair’s seventh annual Miami exhibition? Enjoy over 40 exhibitors, musical acts, and performance artists who do things a little differently than the Art Basel Miami Beach crowd. From December 6 to 9, at 2505 North Miami Avenue.
